The Maker Movement and Cool Stuff!

- There are a lot of resources which you can employ in your school which can advocate for the Maker Movement in Music Education!

Some cool tech that you can use in your class room:)


Interview with Phil Nanlohy

- You have to save up so you can afford to by 8 of each tool to be used in the classroom

- You also need to make sure you get adequate safety equipment which caters for the whole class

- Child size Japanese saws and drills are reccommended.

- You also need safety glasses

- Having the students make their own instruments and Projects = more learning


What about Safety??

- Do the paper work and communicate with the Executive of the school

- communicate with your students clearly and regularly on how to handle equipment safely and safe practise in the Maker Space

- Educate classroom teacher on regulations and guide them in the space to feel comfortable with their students using tools which may be a risk


Reversed Garbage Instruments!

Today we talked about the importance of kids making stuff. We can link this to music ed by creating musical instruments out of recycled materials. I think this is a great way of promoting sustainability while also getting creative and musical at the same time. Check out this video that I made of me and my Farm Rubbish Instrument!
